It's now a firm highlight of every and any State Visit. Queen Camilla has found her social media mark and serves the best get ready with me anywhere. And this one is the best of all.
Ahead of the State Banquet for the President of Germany, Queen Camilla resorted to her go to Instagram video and took us on a behind the scenes tour of her finishing touches to this spectacular dinner which also serves as the showpiece event in the three days extravaganza that is meant to cement ties between the UK and Germany. She now does one of these every time she hosts a Head of State for a major diplomatic event because, why not? And this one had Christmas added in for good measure and so Queen Camilla won the internet today.
The tours are always worth seeing as there are close up on the flowers - this time a very festive shade of red and popped into some antique gold vases, natch. There's also a glimpse of table settings (more plates and forks than anyone knows what to do with) and the trinkets (ie priceless artefacts) that are placed on the table, again, just because. But this time round, we got festive touches and it took the whole thing to the sublime.
Queen Camilla has the absolute must have and totally unbeatable backdrop of a 25 foot Nordmann fir trimmed with thousands of twinkling lights and gold and green baubles. And that's just the start. As she is queen of a castle that's the oldest inhabited one in the world, she also has medieval balconies to decorate and these have been appropriately trimmed with floral garlands. And it's all set off by a ceiling that contains the shields of many Knights of the Garter. Oh, and she put it on Insta with Christmas music. That's a get ready with me no one is topping. Queen takes all.
