The Queen will not attend Remembrance events this weekend after doctors advised her to continue to rest after she contracted a chest infection.
Buckingham Palace announced that Queen Camilla won't attend either the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance on Saturday evening or the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday itself as she continues to receover.
In a brief statement, the Palace said that The Queen was saddened to miss the commemorations but that she would ''mark the occasion privately at home'', adding that she ''hopes to return to public duties early next week.'' It also said that the decision not to attend had been taken ''to ensure a full recovery from a seasonal chest infection and to protect others from any potential risk.''
The King will attend the Festival of Remembrance and lay a wreath at the Cenotaph on behalf of the nation on Remembrance Sunday. The Prince and Princess of Wales will also attend both events.
