The King leads commemorations on Remembrance Sunday

The King has led commemorations for those who died for their country. Charles III laid a wreath on behalf of the nation at the Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph in London.

King Charles led the Royal Family on to Whitehall just before 11am. After the two minute silence was observed, His Majesty placed the first wreath on the Cenotaph. Queen Camilla was unable to attend as she continues to recover from a chest infection. An equerry placed her wreath at the steps of the monument. The Prince of Wales then laid his wreath. The Duke of Edinburgh and the Princess Royal followed while a wreath was laid for the Duke of Kent by an equerry.

The Duke watched the service from a balcony overlooking the Cenotaph. He was with Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester stood on another of the three balconies. The central one was taken by the Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Edinburgh.

The Prince of Wales later took the salute at the Veterans' marchpast.
