Letizia in Luxembourg

The introductory visits of the King and Queen of Spain are continuing and the latest trip has seen them entertained by the Grand Duke and Duchess of Luxembourg. The newest monarch in Europe met one of the longest serving in a day of smiles and rain.

The royal couple's mid morning arrival in Luxembourg saw them welcomed to the country by the heir to the throne, Guillaume, in incessant drizzle. The queen's curls began to droop in the damp conditions and by the time the three had reached the Ducal Palace, to meet Grand Duke Henri, Letizia's hair was wavy.

At the official welcome ceremony, Queen Letizia was presented with flowers and the national anthems of Spain and Luxembourg were played with King Felipe and Grand Duke Henri reviewing troops. The the four royals went inside where they were joined by the Grand Duchess and Guillaume's wife, Stephanie. for a lunch.

In the afternoon, the visitors met several leading politicians in the country including Prime Minister, Xavier Bettel. And then it was off to the airport and a flight to Brussels where tomorrow they will do it all over again with another introductory visit hosted by the man who, until June 2014. was the newest king on the continent, Phillipe of the Belgians.
