Princesses choose pastels to become queens

Like Maxima before her, Mathilde of the Belgians has chosen a pastel outfit for the moment she becomes Queen.  For the abdication ceremony she was in a cream dress with rose pink hat and dark cream accessories.

Maxima went for a very pale peach on the day her husband became King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands.  She chose sapphire blue for the accession ceremony itself - but that was a far more formal affair than the very simple swearing in that will make Philippe king.  And then it was red for the evening event.  Mathilde had just two outfits for the day and ended in a pink print dress.

Like Maxima, Mathilde opted for a dress from Belgium's Natan.  But she has form with Natan, responsible for her wedding dress back in 1999 and provider of many of the clothes the new queen has worn to major events since becoming part of the Belgian royal family.  Now she's its top woman, we can expect to see a lot more of Natan at major European events.
