Prince William on being a dad

We all guessed he'd practiced but today Prince William confirmed that the nerve wracking moment of putting baby's car seat into the car as he took Prince George home from hospital had been rehearsed so he didn't get it wrong.  His first interview since becoming a dad was given to CNN and he told viewers that he was nervous about the whole car seat moment but just one dry run was needed to make sure things went OK.

Asked whether he was consciously trying to create the image of a modern royal family, he said he was just doing things his way and if that worked, great and if it didn't, he'd try harder.  And he admitted, not for the first time, that posing for photographs and smiling for the cameras is something he doesn't enjoy but knows he has to do.

It's easier just being caught on camera going about daily life for William, seen here at the wedding of Lady Melissa Percy earlier this summer

But in a flash of honesty that will have won him a lot more - male - fans, he admitted that like all new dads he's looking forward to getting back to work as it will mean more sleep for him.  William praised his wife's mothering skills, calling her fantastic, and said their little boy wasn't too keen on nodding off at the moment and that he was a rascal, either like himself or Harry as youngsters.

He promised to make sure that George had fun but is the newest prince in town just like uncle Harry already?

Baby George is growing well according to his proud dad but there was no word on the question that's really getting people talking - when will we see the first official photos?
