Queen Camilla may have to miss the Remembrance commemorations as she continues to recover from a chest infection. The Queen has already had to cancel several engagements after becoming ill and as Buckingham Palace announced who would be attending the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday, it was confirmed that Her Majesty is still waiting to see if she is well enough.
The Palace has said that The King will lead the nation's tributes in London on November 10th 2024. The Prince of Wales will be at his side to lay a wreath at the Cenotaph and the Princess of Wales will be present, watching from a balcony overlooking Whitehall. Kate will also be at the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance the previous night, making this weekend her second set of engagements since announcing earlier this autumn that she had completed chemotherapy.
However, it was noted that Queen Camilla is still unwell and a decision about her attendance at both events will be made closer to the time. There's no doubt The Queen will do everything she can to be there as her devotion to the military, to veterans and to the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice is paramount and something she is proud to show.
King Charles will have other members of his family at his side for the commemorations. The Princess Royal and her husband. Sir Tim Laurence, will attend both events as will the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and the Duke of Kent will also be present. Earlier this week, the Duchess of Gloucester officially opened the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey after Queen Camilla had to step aside because of her illness.
Remembrance Sunday is November 10th 2024.
