The prince's team

'Prosthetics, dogs, wheelchairs, high-performance cars, 4x4s, tattoos - we've got everything here.  It could only be the Invictus Games.'  With those words, Prince Harry showed just how proud he is of the British team who will take part in the games - organised by the royal.  In fact, he showed just how proud he is of the whole event, which he hopes will become a regular fixture on the global sporting calendar.  He was speaking as the British team for the game was announced at an event in London.

The prince spoke of how much the 130 men and women in the team have already achieved and said that the games would be a significant milestone in their life beyond injury.  The competitors have already been training for three months and those selected for the team were chosen for their skills as well as for their dedication to training.

The team is made up of 69% Army, 23% Navy and 8% from the RAF and they will take part in a wide range of events including athletics, cycling and sitting volleyball.  The British team is one of fourteen from around the world taking part.

The prince not only showed his pride, his famous sense of humour was also on display as he started bantering with the team and the journalists present only to see his speech whipped up by a gust of wind and blown off the podium.  He jumped to retrieve it, striking a few poses along the way and joking with some of the competitors about them trying to disrupt him.  He then posed for photos with the team including its mascot - five year old black labrador, Fire, who was injured while on active service as a detection dog in Afghanistan.  Fire, and the rest of the competitors, are now in the final weeks of preparation for the event where no doubt Harry will show again just how proud he is of the team - and the games.
