Royals on the Best Dressed List

There's rarely a year goes by without at least on royal making it on to the Vanity Fair Best Dressed List and 2014 is no exception.  No surprises for guessing which regal lady is grabbing the fashion headlines again - the Duchess of Cambridge appears on the list for a fifth time and goes into the magazine's Hall of Fame as well.

Also appearing this year is Queen Maxima of the Netherlands who, since her husband became king in April 2013, has adopted a new style and is being recognised for it now.  Her stand out fashion moment for the list is her recycling of a green evening gown first worn by her mother in law, Beatrix, decades earlier.

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark is no stranger to the Best Dressed List and this year makes another appearance on it with those in the know being particularly impressed by her evening choices.

But there was no place for that other European royal fashionista, Queen Letizia of Spain.  Despite global acclaim for her Varela outfit worn at the proclamation of her husband, Felipe VI, the stylish royal misses out this time.  But that's the thing about the Vanity Fair list - there's always next year.
