Mary in the shade

Her visit to Canada started with some darker shades and that trend has continued as Mary of Denmark tours Toronto on day two of her visit.  The Crown Princess was in the city with her husband as part of their three day business building mission. And there was also a chance to visit some social projects to hear about anti bullying missions (a passion for the princess and a large part of her work with the Mary Foundation) and health issues.

The day involved a trip for Mary to a showcase for Danish fashion while Frederik attended an event about Canadian collaboration with designers in Denmark. And later the couple addressed a seminar looking at health issues. That mix of events shows the dual nature of royal engagements - the glamourous has to sit alongside the serious and the stars have to look right for both events. And so Mary is keeping it shady and serious and putting the spotlight on her causes, as well as herself, as she does so.
