Mary and Letizia swap wardrobes

The outfits chosen by Letizia and Mary usually get a second look. But the repeat glances today were caused by something new. The women, whose royal lives have followed remarkably similar paths from the moment their engagements were announced within days of one another, appear to have swapped wardrobes. Both women chose an outfit worn by the other just days earlier.

Letizia of Spain arrives in a very familiar looking outfit

The Queen of Spain was the first to do a swap repeat performance when she arrived at an engagement in San Sebastian in a black and white print dress that looked very like the one chosen by the future queen of Denmark just two days earlier when she attended a World Health Organisation regional meeting in Copenhagen.

Both women teamed the dress with a black jacket and black shoes. And it's not the first time that Letizia has found this choice of dress repeating on her. She first wore it several months ago only to find a guest at the event in exactly the same outfit.

But Mary's choice for her arrival in Ottawa was just as familiar looking. She wore another Hugo Boss dress that grabbed plenty of attention when Letizia wore it for her first solo engagement as queen after the accession of her husband as Felipe VI.  For most of the day, Mary's version of the pale pink and mauve flower print dress was hidden under a black coat but there was no mistaking the outfit.

Letizia also wore the outfit again this week when she chose it to wear to the presentation of some major journalism awards in Madrid.

As with so many areas of their lives, it seems that Mary and Letizia just can't help having quite a lot in common.
