Here comes the bride

Prince Amadeo of Belgium has married Lili Rosboch at a glittering ceremony in Rome.  The bride arrived at the Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere for her wedding on the arm of her father.

Just a few minutes earlier, her groom had arrived accompanied by his mother, Princess Astrid of Belgium, Archduchess of Austria Este.

The bride was accompanied by her attendants, including Princess Elisabeth of Belgium, Duchess of Brabant and her cousin, Princess Louise of Belgium.

Prince Amadeo's sister, Princess Laetitia Maria, was also a bridesmaid to her sister-in-law.  The bridal party wore white with dark green trim and accessories.  The bridesmaids didn't carry flowers but wore them in their hair instead.

Lili Rosboch was wearing a dress from Valentino and designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri and PierPaolo Piccioli.

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde arrived with their three other children, Gabriel, Emmanuel and Eleonore.  The queen was in Natan with an unusual leather hat that matched her clutch bag.

The wedding was a private event although there was some TV footage of the bride's arrival.  Queen Paola could be seen in the front row taking photos on her mobile phone as the bride arrived and Prince Amadeo kissed his soon to be wife on both cheeks before bowing to kiss her hand.

The couple emerged to cheers and confetti before heading off to their reception and the official photos. One, showing the couple with King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, has already been released with more to come.  There is still plenty of celebrating left to do - here comes the bride.

Royal smiles for an engagement

Prince Amadeo of Belgium and his fiancee, Lili Rosboch, have met the press after the announcement of their engagement at the weekend.  The love birds, who got the marriage ball rolling by being blessed by Pope Francis in Rome on the feast of St Valentine, were all smiles as they were joined by their families for a photo call and then a spot of lunch to keep the celebrations going.

All loved up - Amadeo and Lili make their first appearance as an engaged couple on February 16th 2014

Amadeo, who is sixth in line to the Belgian throne, was joined by several generations of his family.  And the photo call was a rare chance to see the children of the new king and queen of the Belgians as the heiress, Elisabeth, and her brothers and sister are usually quite low profile as they continue their education.

And while the couple looked shy and very sweet together, they did give us one of the loveliest engagement photos yet as they were joined by their very proud mothers on a big day for their little boy and girl.
