Letizia in Kate's footsteps

They might be in every shop in Europe, they might be one of the most popular fashion buys of the last few years, they even existed before she was a royal but they are definitely a Kate thing.  The Duchess of Cambridge's clothes are always headline news but so are her shoes - mostly because those LK Bennett nude heels have become so closely associated with her that a quick internet search for Kate shoes throws up a dozen sites offering pairs of beige coloured shoes identical to Kate's choice and all named after her.  So the decision of Princess Letizia to step out this morning in a pair is a strange decision given her reputation as a trend setter rather than follower.

The princess was attending an audience at the Zarzeula Palace for the Junior Achievement Foundation which encourages children and young people to make the most of the education opportunities available to them.  Her guests today are working on a plan for 12 and 13 year olds in particular to help them stay in education as long as possible to develop their opportunities.

Letizia has been accused of copying Kate Cambridge's fashion choices before.  But the appearance of a pair of shoes so identifiable as a duchess fashion statement puts the princess well and truly in the follower's camp for now.  How long she stays there is another matter.
