Whiter shades of pale

The King and Queen of the Netherlands were all technicolour brightness yesterday for the state opening of parliament but today it's pale and interesting for the Dutch monarchs as they make another of their getting to know you trips to their fellow royals around Europe.  Spain is the latest on their regal whistlestop city break tour and things got off to a pastel showdown on the runway as the Prince and Princess of Asturias met them on their arrival on the country.  Queen Maxima went for baby blue while Letizia was in white with a sparkly belt and matching clutch handbag.

And staying with the theme of hair, after Willem-Alexander's unfortunate encounter with a pair of blunt scissors while trimming his fringe, it seems the problem is catching on in Spain with Princess Letizia looking like she forgot to brush her long locks before stepping out on to the runway.  Queen Maxima went for a semi swept up look that stayed put throughout.  She might need to have a chat with them both over the lunch at the Zarzuela Palace which King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia will host.
