Swedish king at thanksgiving service

The big jubilee day for King Carl XVI Gustaf is under way and this morning the royal family went to a special thanksgiving service at the Royal Chapel in the Royal Palace in Stockholm.

The king, who began his reign as a solitary figure without wife or children, arrived at the ceremony with his queen consort and their prince and princesses.  Though they might have been playing spot the difference as their two girls, Victoria and Madeleine, wore almost identical white suits.

The big event in the city centre, Dancing at the Palace, is about to get underway.  And after the solemnity of the morning service, this will allow anyone who wants to take part in the celebrations to dance the night away as a toast to their king.
