The House of Windsor at 100: sons of the Crown

The House of Windsor is 100 on July 17th 2017 but don't expect a fanfare. This landmark is low key but there's no doubting that it is a moment in history. On July 17th 1917, King George V changed the name of his royal house and family from Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to Windsor as anti German sentiment grew in World War One. The new dynasty he created on that day, by royal proclamation, remains one of the most famous in the world and has provided some of the best known regal stories of the past one hundred years. This special series is looking at the past, present and future of the Windsors and today it's the turn of the men. Welcome to the House of Windsor at 100, sons of the Crown.
