Kate on St Patrick's Day parade

The Duchess of Cambridge is back in business after the controversial holiday she has just finished in the Maldives.  Today she presented shamrock to the Irish Guards to mark St Patrick's Day.  And getting in the spirit of the occasion, Kate was in green.

The duchess presented the shamrocks last year, when five months pregnant with Prince George, and then she got her heel stuck in a grating.  Today's parade went off far more smoothly and Kate upped the ah factor by patting the regimental mascot, Domhall, when she presented the shamrock.  There was also a nod to history as the duchess was wearing a gold Cartier brooch that belonged to Queen Alexandra - it's in the shape of a shamrock.  And after the rows that erupted when it was revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had gone on holiday without Prince George, today's even was very calm with everything going as planned.  It seems that Kate is back in business.
