One queen, one princess, one colour. The royal families of the Netherlands and Denmark have welcomed foreign presidents on state visits this week and in both cases, one of their leading ladies has chosen pale pink for the big gala dinner. Crown Princess Mary of Denmark was the first royal in the pink as she attended a state event for the President of Turkey during his visit and then at the end of the week, Queen Maxima was in the same shade of palest rose for the dinner given in honour of the President of China and his wife as they visited the Netherlands.

They're not the first to choose the pastel shade for a major outfit as Queen Mathilde of the Belgians was well ahead of the royal pack on this one, choosing a rose coloured outfit for her visit to Paris earlier this year. It seems that the trend for Europe's royal ladies is to live la vie en rose.
