The Royal School Report

To mark his 50th birthday, the Earl of Wessex has given just one TV interview and the journalists who got the scoop are still at school.  Poppy, Aisha, Amy and Ruben are all pupils at Hove Park School and Sixth Form Centre and decided to ask the prince for an interview as part of the BBC School Report project.  And much to their surprise, he said yes.

The BBC School Report happens every year, around March, and gives pupils across the country the chance to learn how to be journalists.  BBC reporters and producers across the UK link up with different schools and spend weeks going into class to teach young people the art of interviewing, filming, recording and making sure their work is legally sound.  And on School Report Day their work is broadcast on many different BBC platforms.  The Brighton pupils have got the scoop of the year with their royal interview.  They grill the prince on his involvement with the Duke of Edinburgh Award and the Paralympics as well as asking what he wants for his birthday - the full interview is available on the BBC School Report website.
