Kate's back and yes, she really has gone (a bit) blonde

It was the pressing question that ended the royal summer. Has the Princess of Wales gone a little bit blonder? The answer was revealed today as Kate started up royal engagements again. Absolutely, yes. What's more, it absolutely suits her.

The idea that the usually brunette Princess had shaded up first arose when she was seen on her way to church while staying at Balmoral with William and the kids at the end of August. We got a brief glimpse of her in the passenger seat of the car being driven by the Prince of Wales to Crathie Kirk as they attended a service alongside King Charles and Queen Camilla. But it was cloudy, the windows were slightly tinted and, being a Princess and all that, Kate had a hat on. So there could be no clear confirmation that she'd gone blonder and instead, a lot of speculation followed.

As she hit the engagements path again, on a visit to the Natural History Museum in London where she is patron, she showed off the big change in all its glory. Her hair is actually a lot lighter than many had expected and gave all the healthy summer holiday vibes we aspire to as August ends and the new term starts. And it looks great. Kate's gone longer and she's letting the natural waves come through which matched the smart casual vibe of her outfit.

She needed all the dress down she could get as she and her plus one, otherwise known as the heir to the throne, headed outside to join in an activity session with some youngsters when the rain started. It got so heavy that not even the super sturdy, standard issue royal brollies could contain it and everyone had to splash through rapidly forming puddles to carry on indoors. But that's the great thing about going bronde, as the phrase du jour is. You can't do it with semi permanent so there's no chance of it being washed out in a storm. Calm sailing ahead.
