All royal roads lead to Downton

It's got an earl and countess of its own not to mention a dowager and several ladies but Downton Abbey is really going up in the world. In less than 24 hours it's had two brushes with royalty with the promise of more to come. The House of Windsor can't get enough of Downton right now.

The Duchess of Cambridge will visit Downton Abbey on March 12th 2015

On March 4th, the Countess of Wessex was on the set of the massive hit show when she paid a call alongside the First Lady of Mexico, Angelica Rivera, as part of the State Visit being made by Ms Rivera and her husband, President Enrique Pena Nieto.  The women posed alongside several of the stars of the show including Hugh Bonneville and Elizabeth McGovern (the earl and countess themselves).

It's not the first time that the Countess of Wessex has been seen alongside these fictional aristocrats. In November 2014, Sophie was snapped with the cast of Downton as they supported her work with Tomorrow's People, an organisation helping people back into work.

And less than a day after the images of the Countess and First Lady on set got everyone talking, it's been announced that Downton will get another royal visitor next week when the Duchess of Cambridge heads to the stages used in Ealing Studios for filming of several parts of the show. Kate will spend several hours at the set and will meet the show's creator, Lord Julian Fellowes, as well as many of its stars and the crew who help bring it all to life.

Downton Abbey was an overnight sensation when it started in 2010 and it has been a ratings winner ever since. And now it seems it's winning a whole new set of fans as the royal ladies of Windsor head to the house.
