Kate on parade

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been carrying out one of the most famous of royal traditions - presenting shamrocks to the army. Following in the footsteps of the late Queen Mother, the duchess has been handing over the emblem of Ireland to the 1st Batallion Irish Guards at a ceremony at Mons Barracks with her husband at her side.

The couple are in Aldershot for the ceremony and to meet past and present members of the regiment. It's likely to be one of Kate's last engagements before she stops duties ahead of the birth of her second baby, due in April. But for now, it's business as usual - if it's St Patrick's Day then it must be shamrocks.  Here are some of the first photos of Kate on parade.
