Queen Mary faces a wasp again and this time she wins

Queen Mary of Denmark has won round two of her summer battle against the wasps. She was greeted by another insect as she began her royal tour and this time, she won.

Mary had just arrived in Saeby with King Frederik on their annual cruise around Denmark on the royal yacht when the wasp made its appearance. As she started the first walkabout of a week of walkabouts, the insect swooped but Mary was ready. She told the wellwishers waiting for her that she had to stay away from it because things didn't end well last time. It was a reference to the walkabout last month when she arrived in Grasten. She was attacked by a wasp which stung her, forcing her to head inside the Towh Hall to recover. This time, she was prepared and moved away in time.

The encounter came as King Frederik and Queen Mary stopped off in Saeby for a string of cultural and environmental engagements which took them to some of the most famous literary spots in Denmark. They also attended a church service and had lunch in a forest before heading back to the Dannebrog, their royal yacht.

The royal tour lasts all week so Mary needs to stay fighting fit and away from wasps. In particular, the first evening was a definite no to a swollen anything from a sting as the King and Queen of Denmark were all set to host a glittering evening gala to round off this special day.
