Abdication
King Juan Carlos I of Spain became the first monarch in history to see his abdication posted, after the official announcement, on his Royal Household's Twitter account.
The Royal Household then tweeted a string of images from the king's reign followed by several photos from the life of Felipe, Prince of Asturias.
D Day commemorations
Most of Europe's royal houses were involved in the D Day commemorations that took place in Normandy throughout the week. King Harald of Norway met Norwegian war veterans thre on June 5th 2014 with photos on the Royal Household's Facebook page.
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands were guest stars in a phto tweeted by the Belgian Monarchy which showed the Dutch royals alongside King Philippe and Queen Mathilde as all four greeted President Obama at Ouistreham during the international service of remembrance.
The Clarence House Instagram account followed Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall as they attended a special service at Bayeux Cathedral on the morning of the 70th anniversary of the D Day landings.
The British Monarchy Instagram showed the Queen meeting veterans after the official commemoration events that took place throughout the day.
And later, the British Monarchy and Clarence House Twitter feeds posted links to You Tube videos of veterans who attended the events on D Day.
At home...
The Swedish Royal Family marked their country's National Day on June 6th 2014 with a series of photos on their Facebook page with Princess Estelle as the star, donning national costume.
Princess Mette-Marit took part in several events to mark World Environment Day in Norway on June 5th including getting involved in work to conserve food to help those who can't afford enough to eat - as seen on the Crown Prince and Princess' official Twitter feed on June 5th.
And Queen Mathilde of the Belgians helped her children with a very important event at home as the royal family marked King Albert's 80th birthday and the Royal Household tweeted a photo of Elisabeth, Gabriel, Emmanuel and Eleonore preparing for the celebrations on June 7th.
And abroad
There were several overseas visits for Europe's royals this week with the Queen's State Visit to France featuring heavily on the British Monarchy's Instagram account. The arrival of Elizabeth II in Paris and a garden party in her honour led to a string of photos on June 5th.
To mark her visit, a flower market was named after the Queen and photos of her visit were posted on the Instagram account soon after her arrival there on June 7th.
The King and Queen of the Belgians paid a visit to Poland in the week where they joined events marking the 25th anniversary of free elections in the country.
And Queen Sofia was in New York at the start of the week and it was there she made her first appearance after her husband'announced his abdication. The Spanish Royal twitter account showed the queen as she attended a ceremony where she was presented with the 'Path to Peace' medal.
