The royal TV repair man

He's already had a hero's welcome in Brazil and Chile and now Prince Harry has proved himself to be a real hero to one family after he fixed their TV just in time for them to watch the World Cup second round match - between Brazil and Chile.  The prince was in El Vergel, on the outskirts of Valparaiso, on day two of his tour of Chile when he noticed that the TV in one family's front room wasn't working.  A few minutes later, after a little bit of wire jiggling, the family were World Cup ready.

Of course, they may have wished he hadn't bothered after their team lost on penalties to Brazil after it finished 1-1 after extra time.  But it was just one of the moments of joy that Harry brought on his visit.  He was spending time with some of the communities affected by a forest fire in April that affected around ninety per cent of the homes in the slum of El Vergel.  He heard how electricity had now been restored along with sanitation, meaning that life was slowly returning to normal for those who live there.

And his random act of TV mending kindness won't be forgotten quickly.  Coca Perez, who owns what is now one of the most famous televisions in Chile, told reporters afterwards that now she could tell all her friends that Prince Harry is her TV repair man.  The prince's work to support and understand the issues affecting the communities ravaged by the fire mean that he'll also be remembered in the area for a lot more than mending televisions.
