Pilot William touches down for lunch

Prince William headed back to work this week and straight into the newspapers when he popped in to a local school for a spot of lunch on his first day back on the job.

The Duke of Cambridge was on shift with the East Anglian Air Ambulance and landed his helicopter at John Henry Newman School near Stevenage - apparently his team use the playing fields there quite regularly as a makeshift helipad.  And after touching down, he headed to the canteen after staff offered him lunch.

William, complete with new haircut, was photographed tucking into a roast chicken dinner in the hall while the school's pupils ate their lunches. He sat with colleagues but after the meal had a good chat with several students before heading back to work.

The school's headteacher, Clive Mathew, told the Daily Mirror ''everyone was very excited, as you can imagine, those who had a conversation with him especially''. The school is next to Lister Hospital so is a regular stop off for the East Anglian Air Ambulance which William joined last year.
