Queen Maxima's New Year style

From a big coat to a flared skirt, Queen Maxima brought her own sense of style to the receptions held by the Dutch Royal Family to mark New Year. We got checks, we got flares, we got a cape and there were metallic shoes as well. Here is how Queen Maxima did New Year reception style, 2016.

For the reception on January 12th, for Dutch guests, Queen Maxima chose a leather skirt, a bottle green satin tie bow blouse and some rather lovely sparkle in the shape of pendant earrings and brooch.

But the stand out part of this outfit was the check coat which had enough winter chic and fashion forward style to last for months. A real winner.

The reception on January 13th, for foreign diplomats, saw King Willem-Alexander in morning suit and his queen in an orange dress with metallic accessories.

The top was very Fifties, the skirt was very flared and the effect was rather lovely although we kind of needed a glimpse without the cape to really get the full feel.

Queen Maxima started her New Year last week in style with monochrome and metallic choices. And she got the New Year receptions done in style with a bit of bronze and that coat. Fingers crossed for a repeat and soon.
