Today marks the 25th accession to the throne of Harald V, King of Norway. He became monarch on January 17th 1991 on the death of his father, King Olav V, and has ruled ever since with a modern touch and a huge popular following. Harald has continued to modernise the very concept of monarchy and has provided stability in a way that has made him and his family well loved at home and well liked abroad. Many kings have made it to that special jubilee marking a quarter of a century of rule but not all of them have made their reign a success. Harald V, King of Norway has done just that.
