Albert and Charlene, five years on

Charlene and Albert of Monaco on the eve of their fifth wedding anniversary

With just hours to go until their fifth wedding anniversary, Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco glittered their way through a gala event. The couple, who married on July 1st 2011 with a religious wedding the following day, attended an evening celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Prince Albert II Foundation on June 30th. And very happy they looked too.

We've seen a lot of Albert and Charlene in recent weeks with the princess attending galas and sporting events linked to some of her foundations. Albert has also picked up an honorary degree from Edinburgh University. We've had smiles, cuddles and even an almost kiss as Albert and Charlene hosted an evening at the Prince's Palace during the Monte Carlo TV Festival.

The past five years have been busy for this royal couple who walked down the aisle in 2011 with papers around the world speculating that the bride had had to be persuaded to stay for the ceremony having run for the airport just days before the wedding. Albert and Charlene have always denied that. In the following years, there was endless speculation about when they would have a family and even when Charlene's pregnancy was announced it became the subject of chatter as reports of twins circulated from early on in her great expectations.

The  arrival of Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella in December 2014 turned this two into four. Now, it seems as the twins become toddlers, Albert and Charlene are turning a new page in their own story with a long line of joint appearances in recent times.  The next chapter of a page turning story is under way.
