When you're a brand new prince, you get to make a lot of debuts and Oscar of Sweden has just got another one under his babygro belt. As his mum marked her 39th birthday, the second littlest Bernadotte starred in her celebrations for the first time. And along with his sister, Estelle, he stole the show.

Oscar and Estelle joined Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel at Solliden Palace in Oland for the birthday event. While 21 gun salutes were fired around the country to mark the birthday of the Crown Princess, Victoria and her family greeted wellwishers at their summer residence and there were plenty to greet with officials saying the turnout was the biggest yet for the event,

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia joined the party too, fresh from their trip to Germany. It's expected that the rest of the adults in the family will take part in the evening celebrations and take a few hours off from the babysitting that has dominated a family that's welcomed five new members in just four years.

And it was those newest members who stole the show today. Oscar had a good old cuddle with his mum and dad, sporting a knitted jacket and trousers in palest blue and a pair of socks that had no chance of finishing the day as bright white as they had started it.

Estelle was in blue as well and holding on tightly to granny Silvia's hand as the celebrations got under way. Later she joined her parents for a walk as the birthday party continued.

And as it was his debut, Oscar got to take part in a special part of this day as well. His dad, Daniel, placed a crown of flowers on his head very briefly meaning that this little prince was well and truly versed in the birthday celebrations that take place to mark his mum's special day.
