King Philippe of the Belgians and Princess Elisabeth, Duchess of Brabant cheer on their team in the quarter finals of Euro 2016 tonight
Royal support doesn't get more solid than that. King Philippe of the Belgians is well known for his love of the beautiful game and his backing of his country's national team. But as the Red Devils take on Wales for a place in the semi finals of Euro 2016, it seems the whole family is wearing its footballing heart on its sleeves. And as the game got under way, Belgium's team could count on the presence of their king and his heiress in the stands to cheer them on.
Phillipe, King of the Belgians and Elisabeth, heiress to the throne were photographed at Lille as the quarter finals of the European Championships got under way and they'd come dressed for the occasion. Dad donned a red tie, Elisabeth was in a red dress and both had huge supporters' scarves around their necks as they settled down to cheer on their team.
Earlier in the day, Elisabeth had led her siblings in a show of support as the four royal siblings were photographed, complete with scarves, wishing their team luck. The Duchess of Brabant along with Prince Gabriel, Prince Emmanuel and Princess Eleonore posed for the photo which was shared on Twitter and Facebook with just hours to go before kick off in a game that will be watched across the continent.
Of course, in the end, there was disappointment for these royal football fans. After taking an early lead, they saw their team concede an equaliser but they were still smiling at that point.

Two more Welsh goals saw Belgium out of the tournament as Wales went through to their first ever Euros semi final. But there's no doubt at all that when it comes to royal support for Euro 2016, Belgium's king and his family are well in the lead.
