The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge drove at high speed into the palace with Prince George but no photos were taken of them arriving. The rest of the prince's godparents were waiting for them and made their way into the Chapel Royal around fifteen minutes before the service was due to start with Zara Phillips, in a dark blue outfit, at the end of the procession. There was more dark blue for Kate's mother, Carole Middleton, who arrived soon afterwards in a white dress with navy coat complete with side lace panels. Pippa wore cream as this photo from BBC Royal correspondent, Peter Hunt, shows.

The Queen, in a brighter blue, arrived about five minutes later and was greeted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, and the Bishop of London, Richard Chartres. Prince Charles brought everything full circle by leading the Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry into the Chapel Royal before the star of the show, Prince George, appeared in the arms of his proud father. Kate chose a brand new Alexander McQuen outfit, in cream, for the big day. The couple spent a few minutes talking to the archbishop and bishop before heading inside for the ceremony.
