Royal christening: George's godparents are...

The names of Prince George of Cambridge's godparents have just been announced.  There are seven in total and most are friends of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.  There are no crowned heads - a first for a future British monarch in 250 years - and royal representation is kept to William's cousin, Zara Tindall.

Zara Tindall, daughter of Princess Anne, is the only godparents with royal connections for future king, Princes George

The full run down is headed by Zara, who has always been close to Prince William and then there are the Duke's friends William van Cutsem and Oliver Baker.  Kate's mate Emilia Jardine-Paterson will also be at the font as will Julia Samuel who was a close friend of William's mother, Diana.  The former private secretary to Prince William and Prince Harry, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, is another godfather and William has put in a link with his own godparents by asking the heir to the Duke of Westminster, Earl Grosvenor, to stand sponsor to his son.  William's godmothers included the earl's mother, the Duchess of Westminster.
