Royal christening: the service
The welcome of Prince George, future head of the Church of England, into the Anglican community was about forty minutes long and very simple. The service was conducted by Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, with the assistance of the Bishop of London, Richard Chartres. It included readings by Prince Harry and Pippa Middleton and two hymns as well as an anthem originally written for the christening of Prince William in 1982. And, of course, the moment where George's seven godparents promise to support him spiritually throughout his life. Short, discreet and very intimate, just as his parents wanted.
