The time travelling countess

Sophie, Countess of Wessex has done what royals aren't meant to do.  She's told everyone who her favourite is.  The countess was meeting four actors who have played Dr Who and she couldn't help telling the fourth doctor, Tom Baker, that he was a time lord with her royal approval.

The actor was at a reception in Buckingham Palace as the programme reaches its half century.  His replacement as the Doctor, Peter Davison, was also there along with the current Dr Who, Matt Smith, and John Hurt whose role in the story will be unveiled in the special anniversary episode on November 23rd 2013.

The countess told the doctors that she had loved watching the show as a child.  And with two little ones of her own, there's a good chance that she'll be tuning into the special episode on Saturday as well.  But her children will have much posher sofas to hide behind.
