It's been a bit quieter on the royal front which means less photos but this week has still produced some memorable images that will help tell he story of royalty in the year 2015 for many more years to come. From glitter and cupcakes to the queen who forgot her hat, here are the five best royal photos of the week just gone. And it all starts in the less than regal setting of Barking and Dagenham, the London Borough visited by the Queen during the week. In the middle of her visit she met a little girl who offered her the glitter cupcake she had just made. The Queen's acceptance of it was a sweet moment on a special day when a part of London left out of the spotlight all too often glittered in the glow of a royal visit.
The Queen is rarely seen without a hat on a day engagement while the newest consort on the continent, Letizia of Spain, rarely covers her head at all. It looked like the Spanish queen regretted that decision as she headed to the Genera Air Force Academy in Murcia where the weather was hot and the sun was fierce. Queen Letizia ended up using her fan to shade her face and head from the beating rays.
No such problems with the weather for Prince Charles who was in Yorkshire to attend the Great Yorkshire Show and who got out of his car and walked into the kind of grey weather that can make up so much of a British summer. It didn't deter the prince who was snapped with a group of young farmers expert in the rearing of cows in a shot that summed up this royal's interest in agriculture.
While we've seen King Philippe and King Willem-Alexander at the Tour de France this year, this week it was the turn of Philippe's wife, Mathilde, to do the memorable royal with bicycle photo. The Belgian queen was at the start of the Te Gek? Tour de France at the Royal Palace in Brussels - the event is held annually to raise awareness of mental health issues and this year it's focusing on the problems encountered by children and young people.
Two princesses who made the headlines in June 2015 made their first official public appearances since their big moments. Princess Sofia of Sweden appeared at a royal event as a royal for the first time when she joined her husband, Prince Carl Philip, to celebrate with her sister-in-law, Crown Princess Victoria, on her 38th birthday. Also there was her other sister-in-law, Princess Madeleine, who was also going out and about for the first time since she gave birth to her second child, Prince Nicolas, less than two days after attending Sofia's wedding. The two ladies, with their husbands, posed happily for photos as they attended the royal birthday celebrations.
