The Birthday Princess

It's the mark of a future queen. Victoria of Sweden had competition on three fronts this afternoon as she met crowds and then attended a concert to mark her 38th birthday but at the end of the day there was only one star at Solliden. The Crown Princess crowned her special day with a stellar performance that ensured all eyes were on her.

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden turned 38 on July 14th 2015

First of all, there was her favourite competition of all. Everyone, her mum included, is used to Princess Estelle stealing the show and today, the fourth time she has been around to help Victoria celebrate her birthday, was no different. The future queen strolled out in a pastel outfit with a pale green umbrella - just when we thought she couldn't get any cuter or photogenic, she proved us wrong. This was vintage Estelle.

There is something fabulously charming and reassuring about Estelle's ever growing confidence on big occasions. Her relaxed behaviour at these big events shows what a happy, self assured little princess she really is. And the cuddle filled photos with her parents as Victoria met crowds who wanted to wish her a happy birthday proved that point all over again.

After the afternoon appearance, Victoria moved on to a concert in honour of her birthday dressed in national costume and with two more competitions on the horizon. First of all, her new sister in law Princess Sofia made her first official appearance since her wedding which means just about everyone wanted to have a look at the honeymoon royal. She looked elegant and confident while her new husband looked so happy he might burst. But it wasn't enough to distract from Victoria.

And then we got another first glimpse. Princess Madeleine made her first appearance in public since the birth of her second child, Nicolas, who arrived two days after her brother's wedding. The four week and one day old prince stayed at home while his mum walked out in white and looked downright stunning to boot. Confidence runs through this family's veins and Madeleine looked calm and happy to be back in the public eye.

But while everyone was happy to see Madeleine back, and thrilled to catch a glimpse of Europe's newest princess and overjoyed to get another sight of Estelle there was only one royal in town on this special day. Victoria is perhaps the most confident of them all and so assured in her position that she seems to enjoy every second of days like this. The smile said it all, this was a very happy birthday for the Crown Princess of Sweden.
