Every year is marked with big events - the births, the marriages, the celebrations that make history and memories. But sometimes things just happen that make an impact all by themselves and the epic cycle ride that the Countess of Wessex undertook as her Diamond Challenge for the 60th anniversary of the Duke of Edinburgh Award is one of those. 2016 will be remembered for many royal events including Sophie's bike ride.
The Countess of Wessex began her Diamond Challenge at Holyroodhouse with her husband and father in law there to wave her off.
Along with her team, she travelled 445 miles across Scotland and England to reach her end destination, Buckingham Palace.
The bike ride took seven days with Sophie stopping to meet many young people taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme.
The Countess arrived at Buckingham Palace to a big reception and a very emotional cuddle from Prince Edward and their two children, Louise and James. Congratulations, that Countess.
