Prince Christian rescued by lifeguards

The future king of Denmark, Prince Christian, has been rescued by lifeguards in Australia after being knocked by a strong current which threatened to carry him out to sea. The second in line to the Danish throne got into trouble while on a family day out at Mermaid Beach on the Gold Coast.

Christian was swimming in the safe area between flags when the current hit him and he was carried away from the beach. A lifeguard went after him and brought him safely back to shore. Christian's father, Crown Prince Frederik, personally thanks Nick Malcolm for saving his son.  The story was first reported by 7 News Queensland with the rescue taking place on December 17th.

Christian is spending Christmas in Australia with his parents, Frederik and Mary, and his siblings - Isaballa, eight, and four year old twins, Vincent and Josephine.  The family will be in Mary's home state of Tasmania for Christmas Day itself.
