Royals at Christmas: December 10th, Nobel ladies in red

It's a marker in the royal run up to Christmas. The Nobel Prize ceremony means a queen and princesses in gala gowns with diamonds. And they never look more festive than when dressed in red. To mark Nobel Prize Day, here are five royal red dresses from the ceremony in Stockholm.

Princess Madeleine stole the show in this scarlet number in 2007. Slinky, sexy and sensational.

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden stunned in this ballgown in 2014. About as princess as it comes.

Queen Silvia has impressed in red several times at the Nobel Prizes and in 2007 she was on red hot form again.

Her 1998 creation, cream with red lace, added a truly festive feel to this pre Christmas event.

Princess Lilian looked just lovely in a deep red dress when she attended the Nobel Prize Ceremony in 1995.
