Royals at Christmas: December 8th, family photos

Christmas is all about families and that goes for the royals as well. And while there's lots of attention on festive speeches and appearances on the big day itself, Christmas also means a chance for a family group photo and we all love those especially when we get to see lots of royals together who otherwise might not share a lens for months on end. To mark the festive family fun, here are five big group images given to us by the Royals at Christmas.

This one takes some beating for a royal get together - the family photo released by Queen Margrethe II at Christmas 2014 featured the Danish and Greek royals enjoying festive family fun. Totally regal.

The Norwegian royals love a group family photo at Christmas and, just like every year, this one from 2013 featured Queen Sonja and Crown Princess Mette-Marit in traditional costume

The Belgian royals traditionally gather in front of the crib at the Royal Palace and the get together in 2009 was particularly bright and festive
The Spanish Royal Family gave us one of the most bizarre family Christmas poses of recent times when King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia sent out an image of them with their grandchildren in 2005. The only problem with this Christmas card was that it was clearly put together from other photos.

Christmas cards can also send messages without anything being written and at the end of the 1990s, after a turbulent decade, the Queen let everyone know she led a united family by sending out this famous group image as her festive greeting in 1998
