Five big royal moments from the week

Lots of royal news, lots of special events but some stood out in a packed week of engagements and events. Here are five big royal moments from the week just gone.

Catharina-Amalia of the Netherlands turned twelve and her parents released a new photo of her with her sisters to celebrate the occasion. The Princess of Orange, born on December 7th 2003, was seen alongside Alexia and Ariane on horseback in a pretty picture that shows how quickly this young royal family is growing up.

There were more royal birthdays in the week as Monaco's twins turned one. Hereditary Prince Jacques and big sister Princess Gabriella went on a meet and greet with their proud parents to celebrate their big day. But Jacques stole the show by showing off some neat little running walking steps. The twins were born on December 10th 2014.

Kate wore a new tiara and the world momentarily stopped. The Duchess of Cambridge was snapped driving into Buckingham Palace for the annual diplomatic reception and pulled a big surprise on royal watchers by opting for the Cambridge Lover's Knot tiara for the first time. The piece, a former favourite of Diana, Princess of Wales, ignited a huge debate on whether it was an appropriate choice or too laden with history.

There were more cracking tiaras on show in the week when Sweden's royals celebrated with the Nobel laureates at the annual award presentation and banquet. Crown Princess Victoria easily won the baby bump contest with her sister-in-law, Princess Sofia, but then she is due a month before.  But fashion star of the night, and of the week, was Princess Madeleine who chose a dove grey dress with the stunning Aquamarine Kokoshnik tiara and wowed.

We got the first royal Christmas card of the year in the week when King Felipe and Queen Letizia shared their festive greeting on the Casa Real website. Their daughters star in a new image which matches the Dutch royals for charm. King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia went for a traditional nativity scene - it really is starting to look a lot like Christmas.
