Royals at Christmas: December 12th, visions in white

Christmas time is all about snow and sparkle and what says that better than a stunning royal evening dress in white? And I'm talking evening, not wedding, here. Every now and again, we get a dream dress in white that is worth remembering and with Christmas approaching, a little bit of festive inspiration will never go amiss.  Here are five times that royals have been visions in white.

Queen Maxima looked sensational in this white evening dress. The sparkles were kept minimal but who cares? This is a pure vision in white.

Princess Charlene loves a white evening dress but this moment of understated elegance worn in October 2013 is about as lovely as it gets

Another royal not afraid of wearing white is Crown Princess Mary of Denmark who has shown off some pretty perfect pale creations in the past. This Grecian style dress worn for part of the wedding celebrations of Crown Princess Victoria in 2010 is among the best.

There was a winter white glow to the dress chosen by Princess Madeleine for the pre wedding gala of her sister, too. And this vision of tulle and texture is a dream of a dress that will always look special.

But surely the greatest white dress worn by a royal not getting married is the Elvis donned by Diana in 1989. The pearl studded gown is an absolute classic as is the famous photo of the princess looking over her shoulder. When it's good, it's good and this is really, really good.
