Royals at Christmas: Advent Calendar, December 2nd

It's time to start thinking about dusting down the Christmas decorations and bringing in the tree in time for the big day. And today on the Advent Calendar, it's all about royals and trees. Here are five famous moments royals got Christmas tree ready.


Crown Princess Mary of Denmark helps light up the huge Christmas tree in Copenhagen on its 100th anniversary this weekend



 
 

Soon after their marriage in 2001, Crown Prince Haakon Magnus and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway headed to London to present the Christmas tree traditionally given by their country to the people of London in thanks for support during World War Two







The Duchess of Cornwall had her eye on a very different looking Christmas tree in Malta on her recent there. On a trip to the glass factory in Mdina, Camilla was presented with a colourful Christmassy reminder of her time there



In 1972, Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands made a trip to Goslar in what was then West Germany and his hosts gave him a Christmas tree as a gift. He was photographed bringing it home by plane afterwards




Princess Estelle is becoming a regular helper in the royal tradition of accepting a Christmas tree at the start of the festive season and has even got the dress code sorted - here she is in red as she gets ready to deck the halls.
