Royals at Christmas: December 11th, dressing the part

Royal dressing for Christmas usually involves coats and hats for trips to church, traditional costume for family photos or a bit of red and glitter for big nights out. But every now and again they make like the rest of us and find a Christmas jumper or a Santa hat to bring in the festive cheer. Here are five times the royals went ho, ho, ho with their Christmas wardrobe.

Prince Harry does like a Santa hat but surely the best image of him dressed up like Father Christmas is this magical photo taken during his trip to Lesotho

Prince + Christmas hat, you say? Here's Carl Philip trying to keep it classy with a festive flourish and almost succeeding.

The Duchess of Cornwall is a big fan of Danish show 'The Killing' and on a trip to Denmark she was presented with that Christmas staple, a Scandi jumper.

Prince William almost matched his brother on a Christmas trip to Centrepoint to raise awareness of homelessness but the future king stopped short of crowning himself with a Santa hat, standing discreetly beneath one instead.

A Christmas countdown wouldn't be the same without some input from Princess Estelle and she easily wins the prize for best Christmas jumper with this effort
