The Royal Wardrobe: blue, black and silver

It was a muted week for the Royal Wardrobe with winter hues dominating and styles staying long and flowing. We got lots of blue, we got lots of black and in the middle of it all we got a hint of silver from Sweden's sparkling princesses. Here are five of the best royal looks from the week just gone.

All it needed was an updo to be style perfection. The Duchess of Cambridge carried out her first official engagement as Honorary Air Commandant of the RAF Air Cadets by attending a special service for their 75th anniversary in London and her outfit couldn't have been more appropriate. Was it Air Force blue? No one was sure but what was certain was that this blue coat, first seen in 2014, was a total winner with a hat that was hard to beat.

Another royal win in royal blue came from birthday princess, Marie of Denmark, who chose a navy trouser suit for photos accompanying an interview for Jyllands Posten newspaper and turned in a super chic appearance in the process. Her slim trousers and waist hugging jacket were both very Marie and the overall effect was very, very nice indeed.

Adding a sliver of silver in the middle of all this blue and black was Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden in what is surely her last evening look before maternity leave. For an official dinner at the Royal Palace in Stockholm Victoria went for a pretty silver dress with embellishments and sparkled her way to the top of the fashion list.

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark also celebrated her birthday in the week and the day before blowing out her 44 candles she appeared at Copenhagen Fashion Week in navy mix trousers mixed with a beige ruffle blouse and topped with an elegant navy coat. Mary is on a real fashion roll right now and her latest outfit kept up the trend.

Queen Rania also chose a blue and black combination for a super chic dress worn for a visit to the Sanabel Al Khair Society which supports social development. Her outfit was muted elegance at its very best.
