Royals in the pink

There's been a lot of pink around recently. We expect a smattering here and there but the last week or so has seen a surge in rose tinted royals that is rather remarkable. From hats to coats to dresses to trousers and taking in bags and shoes, royalty across Europe has been in the pink. Here are some of the rosiest moments.

Princess Charlene of Monaco added a very on trend twist to the pink theme by choosing a pair of white trousers with a rosy stripe down either side for the Monaco Grand Prix. And soem very pink lipstick.  Chic.

There was no missing Queen Mathilde of the Belgians' bright pink dress, chosen for the final of the Queen Elisabeth Music Competition this weekend.  The striking colour stood out even in a big group photo.

She'd gone for a much paler hue the week before while hosting the Jordanian State Visit to Belgium which was lucky as every single part of her outfit was pink. Hat, dress, shoes, bag - this is rosetastic.

Queen Rania had chosen the same shade, but for slightly fewer items, on the first day of the same state visit. The coat and dress was elegant if ever so slightly underwhelming.

Queen Letizia of Spain chose a very pale pink jumper for the opening of the Madrid Book Fair. Paired with a pastel skirt it was light and springlike and almost disappeared into the background.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway chose a very pretty pink shift dress for day two of the Polish State Visit to Norway last week and almost stole the show while she was at it.

The Queen suits pink and loves to wear it and her coat and hat for a visit to the Royal Artillery on Salisbury Plain was the ideal opportunity to bring the colour to the fore again. And she looked rather marvellous.

There was a plethora of pink at Prince Oscar's christening with his proud grandmother, Queen Silvia, leading the way in a pastel suit and hat.

Princess Madeleine looked stunning in a pale pink dress with statement sleeves as she became godmother to Prince Oscar.

And even Princess Sofia got into the swing of things by adding a pale pink pillbox to her baby blue outfit.

Princess Beatrice added a swathe of pink to her geometric block dress for a garden party.

But if you're going to wear pink, it might as well be full on and Infanta Elena of Spain left no one in any doubt what shade she was donning as she took part in an event in Madrid. Pink flared trousers and print top take some beating as a statement - a study in royalty in the pink.
