A very modern Governor General

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's tour has been a huge success in New Zealand and part of that is down to the Governor General of the country.  His work behind the scenes will probably never be known - the same as his counter parts elsewhere.  But since William, Kate and George touched down, the Governor General has been making sure the world sees them and his country on this special occasion.  And he's had huge success.

He has been a social media magnet throughout the tour with pictures, videos and updates on Twitter and Instagram at every moment possible.  At some points, he didn't seem to sleep as he shared just one more moment with the world of a tour that he has clearly enjoyed from start to finish.  His constant updates have opened the event up with informal and relaxed snaps that might never have come to light otherwise.  At times it seemed that he was inviting those who wanted to pop in to share an insider's view of the tour and that's done no one any harm at all.  One Governor General who deserves a very big thank you card indeed.
