Easter bonnets

They may have been thousands of miles apart but the Queen and the Duchess of Cambridge shared one thing today.  A taste in mauve hats.  Kate got there first as she went to church in Sydney, hours ahead of the Queen attending a service at Windsor.  But the choice of colour was almost identical.

Kate teamed a lavender coloured fascinator with an Alexander McQueen dove grey coat while the Queen matched a lilac hat with a lilac coat.  From the sunshine of Sydney to windy wet Windsor, a regnant and a future consort shared a liking for spring colours.

The other Windsor women didn't follow their lead with the Princess Royal in dark green and the Countess of Wessex choosing a cream coat with brown hat.

But for Elizabeth II and her granddaughter-in-law, the future was tinted with the first sight of spring even if the warm weather only touched one of them.
