In his day he was Europe's most eligible bachelor and a photo of him in the seas off Brazil being chased by women in bikins is legendary. Today, Prince Charles got a trip down memory lane as he was hailed for his handsome looks on a trip to Cumbria.

While on a walkabout in Caldbeck to meet young farmers and volunteers the prince was told by a woman in the crowd 'we think you're gorgeous, Charles'.  The prince didn't blush but instead shouted straight back that flattery would get her everywhere.

It means that three generations of royals have been winning hearts today.  Charles' son, William, is regularly cited as a heartthrob while his grandson, George, has been stealing all the headlines for good looks as he went on his first official engagement.  Now that Charles has upped his count on the swoon-o-meter, it seems that for one day at least in this branch of the House of Windsor, it's honours even on the handsome front.
